This annual celebration brought together local producers, chefs, and mayor of Siġġiewi and even four members of local council in one lively event and made them cooking in improvised kitchen to honour Malta’s winemaking roots. With music, great food, and endless glasses raised, Festa Għeneb showcases the community, craftsmanship, and passion that keep Maltese wine culture thriving. Siġġiewi is the main producer of grapes in Malta. This year, for the first time, we’ve brought on board foreign partners — a big step for our local scene. Featuring exclusive moments with the Mayor of Siġġiewi and the event’s Head Chef Karl Mallia, plus a behind-the-scenes look at the food, flavours, and festivities that make Festa Għeneb a national treasure. In this feature-length Wine Dine Combine episode, we follow Malta’s first-ever national wine tasting team, The Wine Knights, as they prepare for the World Blind Tasting Championship 2025 which will be held in Jura, France. Team leader Marco Trucco, Master of Wine candidate William Rizzo, Pierre Finger, Andrea Fornuto, recount how they balanced friendship with fierce concentration guided by coach Aaron Rizzo, DipWSET. Now in run with wine specialist Rebecca Degaetano, winemaker Matthew Delicata and avid wine enthusiast Manuel Degiorgio to choose a final team who will be representing Malta on the world stage for the second time.
